Academic strategies is a class that is designed to help students achieve individual goals, seek content area support, as well as learn and practice study skills. Students will also learn to document individual growth by charting progress.
The ultimate goal of this course is to improve student achievement and success by addressing students' individualized goals. We will be working on reading skills, reading comprehension, writing, mathematical calculation, and study skills. One main focus of this course will be to work on the study skill of organization. Not only is organization key to school success, but also key in real life situations. Students will learn how to record and prioritize assignments. In addition to keeping track of assignments, students will also be able to manage school materials in an organized fashion. They will be able to keep assignments organized in their lockers and folders so that items can be completed and turned in efficiently. Academic Strategies Schedule:
Monday - Reading comprehension and basic reading skills
Tuesday - Assessments and support for homework
Wednesday - study skills
Thursday - study skills
Friday - Written expression and support for homework
